Senior Manager, Business Strategy & Operations

The role will help the department navigate a highly complex portfolio spanning global investment, post-investment management, strategic partnerships and commercial collaboration. The successful candidate should be able to see the full picture, identify the issues that truly matter, and translate complexity into clear insights that senior management can act on and teams can execute against. This is not a traditional PMO or reporting role. We are looking for someone with strong business judgment, exceptional structuring capabilities and a low-ego, high-ownership mindset—someone who proactively identifies gaps, steps in where needed and drives critical work through to completion. The candidate must also be both an active gamer and a hands-on AI practitioner, with genuine passion for games and AI.

1. Strategic Framing and Decision SupportDevelop and continuously refine the strategic framework for Tencent Games’ global investment, post-investment management, strategic partnerships and commercial collaboration. Work closely with the Head of Global BD, the leadership team and key stakeholders to identify strategic priorities, define key initiatives and translate strategic direction into actionable business plans. Synthesize complex and fragmented business information into clear, structured and decision-ready insights that senior management can quickly understand and act on. Identify emerging opportunities, critical issues and key trade-offs early, and provide clear recommendations rather than simply reporting information. Connect external market developments with Tencent Games’ internal priorities to support better strategic judgment.
2. Department Business Management and Operating System Build and operate the department’s annual and quarterly planning, business review and priority-management mechanisms. Maintain a comprehensive view across investments, partnerships, regions, Cells and strategic initiatives, ensuring that the most important matters receive appropriate management attention. Work with Cell owners, regional teams and cross-functional partners to set, break down and review business objectives and performance metrics. Establish clear ownership, milestones, decision points and escalation mechanisms for key initiatives. Reduce reliance on manual tracking and individual information bottlenecks by building scalable and reusable operating mechanisms.
3. Business Performance Review and Analysis Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews of business performance, strategic initiatives and organizational priorities. Identify key progress, risks, gaps and dependencies, and translate them into clear management implications and recommended actions. Develop dashboards, trackers and review materials that help management understand not only what happened, but also why it matters and what decisions are required. Ensure important decisions, actions and lessons are captured and followed through.
4. Critical Initiative Ownership Own and drive selected strategic initiatives from initial framing through execution. Proactively identify execution gaps and step into uncovered areas to keep critical work moving. Bring together the necessary business, investment, finance, legal, HR and other functional perspectives to turn strategic intent into concrete outcomes. Build repeatable frameworks and processes instead of managing issues case by case. Support the department in handling complex, high-priority or time-sensitive topics that require cross-business judgment and strong execution.
5. Executive Communication and Organizational Translation Prepare decision papers, strategic reviews and executive presentations for the Head of Global BD and senior management. Translate complex business discussions into language that is: clear enough for senior executives to make decisions; practical enough for teams to understand and execute. Ensure strategic priorities, management decisions and key messages are communicated consistently across an international organization. Serve as a trusted sparring partner who can challenge assumptions constructively while maintaining strong relationships with senior executives and stakeholders.
6. Industry Insight and Organizational Intelligence Stay current on global games industry trends, investment activity, competitive dynamics, emerging business models and technology developments. Develop a strong understanding of Tencent Games’ internal businesses, key stakeholders, decision-making processes and organizational context. Build broad knowledge across investment, post-investment management, strategic partnerships, commercial collaboration and regional BD. Apply sound interpersonal judgment and organizational sensitivity when handling complex stakeholder topics.
7. AI-Enabled Business Operations Actively explore and apply AI tools to improve research, analysis, knowledge management, workflow automation, document creation and decision support. Identify opportunities to redesign existing business-management workflows with AI, rather than simply using AI to accelerate isolated tasks. Turn recurring management work, effective prompts, workflows and institutional knowledge into reusable team capabilities. Contribute to the development of the department’s AI Infra, knowledge base and organizational memory. Share effective AI practices and help raise AI fluency across the broader BD team.
